On September 9, 2009 (9.9.9.) Hoopers and flow artists from all over the Washington, DC metropolitan area gathered to celebrate World Hoop Day. WHD is an international event aimed at sharing the joys of hooping, and using the element of play to bring happiness into our lives and into our communities. This year, in commemoration of WHD, the DC Hoop community donated hoops to KidSave, a child advocacy group working with orphaned and foster care children. These hoops will be used in their Weekend Miracles program which introduces children to potential foster parents. Hooping is a great ice breaker that activates joy and group interaction. A hoop is an effective tool to "take the edge off" of this potentially intense interaction.
The next World Hoop Day will be October, 10, 2010 Save the Date!
